Luanda: Mobile operator UNITEL has successfully completed the restoration of essential mobile services, including voice, messaging, data, and internet access. This restoration comes nine days after a significant cyberattack disrupted services on July 28.
According to Angola Press News Agency, a press release received on Thursday confirms that UNITEL has also restored third-party services operating on its network. The document highlights that in the coming days, UNITEL will focus on optimizing and monitoring its technology infrastructure. Efforts will be made to normalize complementary systems, ensuring the continuity of the core services that have been restored.
UNITEL advises users experiencing any service disruptions or unavailability to contact customer support through the call center or at retail stores. The company continues to work closely with national authorities and specialized cybersecurity partners to gather evidence and fully understand the details of the incident. UNITEL has pledged to release findings once key conclusions are reached.
The cyberattack on July 28 was a targeted attack on UNITEL's technology infrastructure, resulting in partial service outages across the country.
