Luanda – Angola’s vice president of the Republic Bornito de Sousa Wednesday recommended greater dissemination of the Constitution of the Republic, including African languages.
He encouraged the standardisation of knowledge of the text of the Constitution, especially from childhood to youth, after having already been translated into the main foreign languages, such as English, French, Spanish and German.
Bornito de Sousa was speaking at the opening of the magna conference on the Supremacy of the Constitution and Constitutional Justice, to mark the 12th anniversary of the entry into force of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola (CRA), celebrated on the 5th of this month.
He said that February 5, 2010 marks the end of a delivery day, but also of trials and challenges, in a process that involved a commission of 60 MPs and 19 Angolan experts, committed to the ideals and values of Independence, Freedom and of People’s Sovereignty.
He urged political actors, in the year of general elections, to consider the guarantee of peace and national stability as the only options for Angolans.
The vice-president of the Republic noted that the moment demands, from each of the political actors, members of society, the responsibility to preserve independence, peace and freedom and that they always choose Angola.
Constitutional Court
The presiding judge of the Constitutional Court, Laurinda Cardoso, said that the approval of the Constitution of the Republic represented the culmination of a long transition process.
She stressed the foundations of the 1992 Constitutional Law, anchored in the idea of the Democratic State of Law, respect for the dignity of the human person and the will of the people.
