Luanda: The Vietnamese Head of State, Luong Cuong, extended an invitation on Thursday to the Speaker of the Angolan National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, to visit Vietnam, aiming to enhance parliamentary relations between the two nations. This invitation was announced during President Cuong's address at the formal session held in the Angolan Parliament, which was organized in honor of his visit to the country. According to Angola Press News Agency, President Luong Cuong expressed his appreciation for the warm reception in Angola and emphasized his commitment to fostering stronger ties and promoting comprehensive cooperation. He thanked the Angolan government, the National Assembly, and the citizens for their support and for providing a conducive environment for the Vietnamese community residing and working in Angola. President Cuong acknowledged the shared history and mutual efforts of both countries in their respective struggles for independence. He stressed the importance of enhancing sociability and ele vating the traditional friendship to a new level, especially in light of significant international changes. Furthermore, President Cuong reaffirmed Vietnam's support for Angola's initiatives during its presidency of the African Union, particularly in promoting peace and security across the continent. Carolina Cerqueira, the leader of the Angolan parliament, also emphasized the importance of parliamentary cooperation in her speech. She highlighted the role of the Angola-Vietnam Friendship Group, which plays a crucial part in strengthening ties between the legislative bodies of the two nations. The group is tasked with promoting the exchange of legislative experiences and fostering joint initiatives that reinforce the bonds of friendship and cooperation.
