Young People Reinforce Knowledge on Digital Literacy in Angola

Luanda: At least 300 young people from the provinces of Luanda, Benguela, Zaire, Moxico, and Cabinda reinforced their knowledge of digital literacy and the responsible use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on Tuesday in the country's capital, in order to prevent cybercrimes.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the event was promoted by the Italian non-governmental organization International Volunteering for Development, which, with its project "Our Voice, Our Future", carries out actions for youth participation and vulnerable groups. The initiative aims to equip young people with the necessary skills to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

At the opening of the forum, the project manager, Auria Pereira, highlighted the necessity to combat cybercrimes among young people, such as digital fraud, identity theft, and the sharing of fake data. She emphasized the importance of collaboration among project partners, who are co-financed by the European Union, to support Angolan youth and develop effective policies to ensure their protection.

The training session addressed various topics, including the issue of cybercrime within the context of Angolan youth, the role of the Integrated Public Security Center (CISP) in preventing and combating cybercrime, and the Catholic Church's perspective on these digital challenges.
