Cunhinga: The Youth Cooperative of the municipality of Cunhinga, located 30 kilometers north of Cuito, the capital of Bié province, is set to focus on the cultivation of Arabica and Robusta coffee for the current season. They plan to plant twelve thousand coffee plants across more than three hectares. According to Angola Press News Agency, the head of the cooperative, Bartolomeu Chacale, revealed this initiative during a conversation on Thursday in the context of the second bean harvest. The coffee plants are currently nurtured in nurseries in the village of Ndumba. Regarding the second phase of their bean harvest, Chacale confirmed that four hectares were prepared and sown, leading to a harvest of 2.4 tons, which is one ton more than the previous campaign. Chacale also mentioned that during the first season, the cooperative successfully cultivated crops such as corn, beans, cassava, sweet potatoes, and various vegetables including tomatoes, cabbage, and onions. This effort resulted in a yield surpassing seven tons. The cooperative consists of 14 members and manages a total of over 30 hectares, demonstrating their commitment to agricultural development in the region.
