Japan to Welcome Limited Tour Groups

Japan says it will begin welcoming tour groups as a means of returning to full-fledged tourism.

The government’s tourism agency announced Tuesday that small groups from Australia, Singapore, Thailand and the United States will be allowed to enter Japan later this month. The agency says the tours will be limited to fixed itineraries and must be accompanied at all times by tour guides, and that all participants must be triple-vaccinated.

The agency says the tours will be used to gain information to form COVID-19 guidelines for the travel industry, including hotels and travel agencies.

Foreign tourists have been banned from Japan since the start of the pandemic in 2020. The government has slowly begun easing restrictions for certain travelers such as foreign students, Japanese nationals and business travelers.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said in a speech delivered earlier this month in London that he will bring Japan’s border controls in line with other wealthy nations as early as June, but gave no further details.

Angola invests in health staff specialization

Luanda – The Angolan government said Tuesday it has conceived a Medical Specialization Training Plan that has allowed the widening of the training process in 41 specialties, with nine priority areas to guarantee a differentiated assistance of the population.

The areas were chosen according to the epidemiological profile of the country, with emphasis on Paediatrics, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation, Public Health and General and Family Medicine.

Currently at least 2,620 doctors have begun specialized training.

More than 16,000 health professionals in several categories have benefitted from short term training in all careers, while specialized post-medical training continues to be encouraged in several areas in Luanda, while the extension to other provinces is expected to happen in the near future, especially in the specialties of midwives, orthopaedics, anaesthesiology, instrumentation, among others.

The initiatives are part of the Country’s National Development Plan to ensure the well-being of all citizens included in the 2018-2022 Government Programme, which aims to strengthen National Health Service by increasing access, quality and motivation of health professionals.

The number of professionals in the health sector in Angola increased from 63,738 effective professionals to 96,831 as a result of two public recruitment processes that caused an increase in the number of the staff by 35.01 percent.

Rock and Roll Festival returns to Lobito

Lobito – Three years after, the city of Lobito, province of Benguela, gets ready to host the Rock and Roll 6th edition festival, in July, following the relief of restrictive measures against Covid-19 by the Angolan Multi-Sector Commission.

The information was provided this Tuesday to ANGOP by event promoter Edson Renato, when asked about the cultural movement in Lobito.

Edson Renato said that all (his team, the artists and lovers of that style of music) are looking forward to experiencing “contagious moments” again, which they did not had since the time the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country, in March 2019.

He guaranteed to have the institutional and financial support confirmed for the event and believes that it will surpass the five previous editions, intending to reach around 5,000 spectators this year.

“In addition to musicians from the provinces of Benguela, Huambo and Luanda, who usually participate in this festival, this time we have the presence of a Namibian singer named Shiruka, who will also bring her experience to Rock lovers”, he emphasized.

In his opinion, digital platforms have played an important role in promoting the festival of that style of music in the city of Lobito, as there is an increasing number of participants.

However, Edson Renato sadly recalled the constraints caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which took the role of organizations, groups and individual artists, removing their availability and ease of obtaining financial and technical resources.
