Luanda: The African Climate Summit 2 (ACS2) has commenced in Addis Ababa, drawing more than 45 African Heads of State and Government, as well as a host of international partners and civil society representatives. The event, which is scheduled to continue until Wednesday, seeks to position Africa as a key player in the global climate agenda under the theme "Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa's Resilient and Green Development."

According to Angola Press News Agency, the summit's opening was marked by a welcome address from Ethiopia's Minister of Planning and Development, Fitsum Assefa. She highlighted the summit's aim to convert ambition into tangible actions and to secure large-scale funding for projects that are both resilient and sustainable. The event serves as a platform for discussions on various critical topics, including nature-based solutions, energy transition, technological innovation, adaptation, resilience, climate finance, and green infrastructure.

The summit will conclude with the adoption of the Addis Ababa Declaration and a Call to Action, which are intended to amplify Africa's unified stance in international climate negotiations. This forum is seen as a pivotal moment for the continent to consolidate its voice and influence on the global stage regarding climate solutions and sustainable development initiatives.
