Yokohama: The acting president of the African Union (AU), Joo Louren§o, emphasized the undeniable growth of Africa, driven by the AU Agenda 2063, which envisions a prosperous, integrated, and peaceful continent. Louren§o, also the Angolan Head of State, made these remarks during the Public-Private Business Dialogue at the 9th edition of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), which began on Wednesday.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Louren§o expressed optimism for Africa's future, highlighting the potential for a more educated youth, diversified economies, and improved infrastructure, allowing citizens to live with dignity and harmony. He described Agenda 2063 as a strategic framework guiding Africa towards self-reliance and sustainable development.
In his speech, Louren§o recalled the recent Africa-US Business Summit held in Angola, which underscored Africa's ambition to forge business partnerships that advance its development. He reiterated this sentiment in Yokohama, emphasizing the African Union's belief in the private sector as a key driver of inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Louren§o stressed that the private sector is pivotal in job creation, innovation, economic transformation, and wealth generation, all essential for societal prosperity. He advocated for platforms like the African Union Private Sector Forum to nurture these developments.
