Agricultural Plan to Produce 1,000 Tons of Coffee Annually in Seles

Seles: The municipal administrator of Seles in Angola's southwestern Cuanza-Sul province, Eliseu Segunda, announced the implementation of an ambitious agricultural plan aimed at producing 1,000 tons of coffee per year starting in 2026. The plan marks a significant increase from the current production level of 120 tons per year, with coffee farming currently spanning 40,000 hectares.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the administrator explained that the initiative would involve several strategic steps, including replacing old coffee plantations, expanding production areas, involving more producers, and providing financial support to producers. Presently, the coffee production in Seles involves 38 producers and 11 agricultural companies engaged in the cultivation of the red berry.

Eliseu Segunda emphasized that the municipality's resources are conducive to enhancing coffee production. Alongside coffee, there are plans to boost the production of cocoa and palmar, with the National Coffee Institute (INCA) supplying the necessary plants for these crops.

The provincial government of Cuanza Sul is committed to supporting peasant families interested in coffee cultivation. This support will be manifested through the provision of seedlings, agricultural tools, and other essential resources to ensure the success of the agricultural plan.
