Uige: The coordinator of the Network of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Service Organizations (ANASO) in northern Uige province, Pinto Mulato, has called on the local population to report cases of intentional HIV transmission. Speaking to ANGOP, Mulato highlighted that ANASO is currently receiving three to five such cases weekly, emphasizing the urgent need for community vigilance and reporting to combat this issue effectively. According to Angola Press News Agency, ANASO is advocating for a stronger culture of denunciation as a strategy to reduce the intentional transmission of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases. These acts are classified under article 205 of the Penal Code, and the organization believes that public reporting could play a significant role in mitigating these offenses. To further this cause, ANASO is planning to conduct talks and debates aimed at educating the public on disease transmission and prevention. Pinto Mulato also pointed out a concerning trend in the region, with seven to ten new HIV/AIDS cases being diagnosed weekly at the Uíge Municipal Maternity Hospital and the Sanatório Hospital. He acknowledged the rising number of infections, warning that the situation might worsen if immediate actions are not taken to address the seropositivity rate.
