Angola and China Plan Business Meeting to Boost Economic Diversification

Luanda: Angola and China, through their respective Chambers of Commerce, have expressed intentions to organize a business meeting in Luanda aimed at promoting the diversification of the Angolan economy and facilitating the exchange of technological and industrial experiences. This initiative was articulated during a meeting between the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and the Chinese Ambassador to Angola, Zhang Bin. According to Angola Press News Agency, the planned forum aims to deepen partnerships between the private sectors of both countries, creating new opportunities for investment and the transfer of technical knowledge. Additionally, the parties discussed the Sino-South African launch of a Cooperation Initiative to Support Modernization in Africa, which will be presented at the upcoming G-20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. This initiative is designed to strengthen African capabilities in trade facilitation, sustainable industrial development, finance, peace, and security. Duri ng the meeting, the current status of bilateral and multilateral cooperation was reviewed, with a specific focus on economic, technological, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. The history of Angola-China cooperation dates back to 1983 when diplomatic relations were established, marking the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership. Over the years, China has become one of Angola's main economic partners, participating in various structural projects for the nation's rehabilitation and development. The relationship is grounded in principles of mutual benefit, respect for sovereignty, and sustainable development, serving as a model of South-South cooperation.
