Angola and Spain Strengthen Cooperation in Finance and Education

Lubango: The Spanish ambassador, Manuel Lejarreta, has stated in Lubango, located in the southern Hula province, that the relationship between Angola and Spain is evolving and adapting to the new global dynamics. The focus is shifting from traditional development cooperation to a robust partnership centered on economic, financial, and educational sectors.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the diplomat made these remarks in Lubango during the 1st International Conference of the Faculty of Medicine at Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University (UMN). The conference is currently taking place in the city of Lubango. He emphasized that the two nations share 'a long-standing relationship of friendship and stable trust,' a relationship that has been reinforced over the years. This foundation was notably strengthened during the 1980s and 1990s through support programs that enhanced Spain's presence in Angola, particularly in the education and health sectors.

The ambassador also underscored the shared commitment to higher education, with joint initiatives involving academic institutions. These partnerships with universities aim to enhance professional training and improve the quality of education in Angola. He highlighted that Spain has launched a significant cooperation program focusing on education, health, and other social areas, transitioning towards an economic and financial cooperation profile.

In the economic and financial domains, the ambassador noted that Spain maintains credit lines of approximately 500 million euros. This financial framework facilitates increased investment and encourages collaboration between companies from both nations. The ongoing dynamic aims to contribute to the diversification of the Angolan economy, aligning with the Executive's agenda.

He assured that Angola can continue to rely on stability, confidence, and credibility in its relationship with Spain. Furthermore, favorable conditions in the financial instruments provided by Spain are guaranteed, reinforcing the economic ties between the two countries.
