Police Prevent Illegal Entry of 40 Citizens from Democratic Republic of Congo

U­ge: At least 40 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were detained in the last seven days by the local Border Guard Police in U­ge province for attempting to enter the country illegally.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the illegal immigrants were detained in 17 recorded border violation attempts during the period, two more than the previous week. This data was presented to ANGOP on Friday by the spokesperson for the Provincial Command of the National Police in U­ge, Chief Superintendent Freitas Zama, when he was giving an update on the operational situation in the region over the last seven days.

He clarified that the illegal immigrants were detained at the border posts of Kimbata, Sacandica, Marco 41 (Maquela do Zombo), the naval posts of Cuilo Cuango (Quimbele) and Mucumbi I, Kindaca and Kilonda (Massau).

On the other hand, the senior officer of the corporation said that 15 road accidents, resulting in two deaths and 18 injuries, were recorded during the period in U­ge province. Compared to the same period of the previous week, there was a reduction of eight accidents.

It was reported that the accidents occurred in the municipalities of U­ge, Negage, Vista Alegre, and Milunga. It was pointed out that the causes of these accidents were speeding, failure to yield right of way, driving under the influence of alcohol, and disregard for the Highway Code.
