Angola and United States Strengthen Cooperation in Youth and Sports Fields

Angola: Angola and the United States of America strengthened on Thursday their bilateral cooperation in the fields of youth, sports, and human development. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Minister of Youth and Sports Rui Falco and Charg© d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Angola Shannon Cazeau and is part of the Angolan government's strategic agenda to value youth as a national asset and reposition sports as an instrument of social inclusion, public diplomacy, and economic growth.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Paulo Madeira, the Secretary of State for Sports, said the meeting's main objective was to strengthen the Ministry of Youth and Sports's existing cooperation with the US Embassy in the areas of youth, sports, culture, and sports diplomacy. Madeira elaborated that during the meeting, the US diplomat expressed satisfaction with the Angolan executive's commitment to defining and implementing public policies aimed at youth, having highlighted the plans and strategies underway, particularly the Youth Development Plan (YDP).

Madeira added that the meeting reaffirmed the US Embassy's commitment to supporting ongoing partnerships by implementing programs for youth, including English language competitions, entrepreneurship initiatives, and cultural and sports exchange activities.
