Angola Engages in UN High-Level Human Rights Dialogue

Geneva: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tete Antonio, is in Geneva (Switzerland) to take part in the High-Level Segment of the 61st Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Monday. According to Angola Press News Agency, the High-Level Segment of the 61st Session of the Human Rights Council brings together Heads of State and Government, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, and senior officials from international organizations. The aim is to strengthen multilateral dialogue on the promotion and protection of human rights, assess the implementation of previously adopted resolutions, and debate emerging global challenges. The agenda for the session includes discussions on peacebuilding, the impact of climate change on human rights, gender equality, combating racism and discrimination, and strengthening mechanisms for technical cooperation and assistance to States. Angola's participation in the High-Level Segment reaffirms its active role in the multil ateral system, as well as its commitment to the defense and promotion of human rights at both regional and global levels. The Angolan delegation also includes the Ambassador of Angola to the Swiss Confederation, Filomena Delgado, and the Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in the Canton of Geneva, Ana Maria de Oliveira.
