Bengo: At least 68 citizens in Bengo benefited from free legal assistance provided by the Angolan Bar Association (OAA) in 2025, which is an increase of 25 cases compared to the previous year. Bernardo Joo, the provincial delegate of the OAA in Bengo, shared these insights with Angop, noting that 41 of the 68 citizens assisted were women and 27 were men.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the complaints addressed included issues such as lack of recognition of common-law unions, fraud, and regulation of parental authority. Joo expressed a positive outlook on the OAA's initiatives in Bengo, which not only cover legal aid but also encompass professional internships, the delivery of professional certificates, and improvements in delegation infrastructure.
Joo highlighted the necessity to expand the OAA's legal services to the interior regions of the province to better assist citizens who currently have to travel long distances to access these services. He praised the local lawyers' exemplary conduct and reiterated that the OAA in Bengo remains committed to providing legal assistance to any citizen in need.
The Bengo Bar Association Delegation currently oversees 68 lawyers, including 22 trainees, who contribute to the provision of these essential legal services across the province.
