Angola Plans Major Initiative to Train 38,000 Health Professionals by 2028

Luanda: Angola plans to train at least 38,000 health professionals by 2028, as part of the Human Resources Health Training Program, the Health Minister, Silvia Lutucuta, announced during a workshop in the city. According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister made the statement at the opening of a workshop on Strategic Management in the Prevention and Control of Pressure Injuries. This initiative is promoted by the Health Ministry through the Implementation Unit of the Human Resources Health Training Project (UIP-PFRHS). The program aims to encompass a wide range of health professionals, including doctors, nurses, nursing technicians, diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, hospital support technicians, and general staff. Minister Lutucuta emphasized that investing in human capital remains a priority for the government, with the goal of enhancing the quality of health services and boosting the response capacity of hospital units. Minister Lutucuta highlighted the necessity of continuous training for hea lth professionals, the improvement of working conditions, and the consolidation of a patient safety culture in healthcare institutions. She underscored the importance of nursing in ensuring continuity of care and preventing hospital complications, advocating for enhanced training and professional development opportunities for these healthcare workers. The workshop aims to bolster the technical skills of health professionals and improve the mechanisms for preventing and controlling pressure injuries in hospital settings.
