Accra:Foreign investment in Angola's non-oil sector has increased by 54% between 2022 and 2026, as part of the government's strategy to diversify the economy, President Joao Lourenço announced.
According to Angola Press News Agency, President Lourenço made these remarks during his State of the Nation address to Parliament at the opening of the 5th Legislative Session of the 5th Legislature. He highlighted the Public Investment Program (PIP) as the main tool driving national development.
The president pointed out that the program focuses on critical sectors such as health, education, energy, water, transport, infrastructure, housing, and employment. He stressed that these investments aim to convert macroeconomic stability into real benefits for the population, emphasizing that the nation's progress should be measured by improvements in citizens' quality of life rather than GDP growth alone.
Lourenço explained that the state of the nation is better evaluated through the improved living conditions of families, increased employment opportunities for young people, children's access to education, safe childbirth in hospitals, and farmers' ability to market their produce. He also emphasized the importance of a public administration that is more accessible and less bureaucratic, serving as a supportive partner to the citizens.
