Zhengzhou: Journalists and staff from the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs took part in the International Tourism Forum in Zhengzhou, Henan, following an invitation from the Government of the People's Republic of China. The event aimed to foster dialogue and exchange experiences concerning cultural tourism development, urban governance, and city revitalization.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the forum featured keynote speakers such as Zhuang Jiaqiu, president of the Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government, alongside international leaders like Maurizio Rasera, governor of Asti Province in Italy, Frank Amoakhone, regional minister of Ashanti in Ghana, and Eva Dwiana, mayor of Bandar Lampung in Indonesia. The Angolan delegation comprised professionals from ANGOP, TPA, Angola National Radio (RNA), Edi§µes Novembro Public Printing Press, CEFOJOR journalism training center, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, who were in China for the Seminar on Development and Cooperation in Portuguese-Speaking Countries.
The event, themed "Global Mayors Dialogue Zhengzhou 2025," saw participation from government officials from New Zealand, Italy, the Maldives, Indonesia, Ghana, and Thailand, as well as international organizations, businesspeople, and diplomats. An Wei, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China in Henan, emphasized Zhengzhou's dual role as an ancient cultural hub and a modern technological innovation center, advocating for tourism and culture as key drivers of sustainable economic development.
Cultural performances, including traditional music, dances, and Kung Fu displays inspired by the Shaolin Temple, underscored the host city's cultural vibrancy. At the forum's conclusion, cooperation agreements were signed with cities in Ghana, New Zealand, Spain, and Indonesia to bolster international tourism and cultural exchanges.
Participants, including Angolan professionals, signed the event's official billboard, joining representatives from Brazil, Cape Verde, and So Tom© and Prncipe, who also attended the seminar. The Angolan delegation had previously participated in the International Forum of Ancient Cities in Luoyang, another historic city in Henan, known for its rich history and economic significance in Central China.
