Luanda:The Angolan feature film "Where Is God?" (Onde Est¡ Deus?), filmed in Huambo, has been chosen to compete in the Best Feature Film (Fiction) category at the 2026 Luanda International Film Festival (FIC Luanda).
According to Angola Press News Agency, the festival will take place from October 28 through November 2 in Angola's capital, marking the return of FIC Luanda after an 11-year break. The event will showcase more than 100 national and international entries from 20 countries, aiming to promote regional audiovisual production.
Co-director Ant³nio Guimares expressed pride in the selection, noting it underscores the growing influence of film production outside Luanda. He highlighted the importance of giving visibility to regional filmmakers and fostering discussions on decentralizing the country's film distribution.
The 80-minute drama-thriller, written and directed by Guimares and co-directed by Grande Joo, tells the story of a young writer facing death who becomes a divine instrument to reveal a cult's role in abducting young women from a local Christian community.
Produced by TP Films and co-produced by Rolos Angola, "Where Is God?" took three years to film at various locations in Huambo, including the Estufa Fria greenhouse and the So Pedro Municipal Cemetery. The film features a cast of 40, including Tom¡s Ferreira, Carina Carvalheda, Nelson Nhanga, Alexa Tom¡s, and Yara Mosquito.
The film originally premiered in December 2025 across the Cinemax cinema network, attracting over 2,000 viewers during its initial release.
