Luanda: The current Disciplinary Regulation of the Angolan National Police (PNA), effective since October 2nd, prohibits officers from wearing extravagant adornments such as hair extensions and visible tattoos. The regulation is part of a broader effort to maintain the dignity of the police service and enhance the institutional prestige of the PNA.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the decree, published in the Official Gazette, outlines strict grooming duties, including proper personal presentation and appropriate uniform usage. It defines extravagant accessories as false hair, unnatural hair colors, colored lipstick, eyelashes, and false nails. Earrings longer than one centimeter and visible tattoos not covered by uniforms are also prohibited.
The regulation mandates that PNA officers wear a strict uniform, refrain from unauthorized insignia, and uphold personal hygiene standards while maintaining their uniforms and equipment. Officers are restricted from transporting items that could undermine their prestige, except for small carry-on bags or items during travel.
The Exclusive Uniform Regulations of the PNA serve as a guideline to ensure uniformity and uphold the institutional image of its officers, reinforcing a commitment to discipline, ethics, and professional decorum within the force.
Additionally, PNA officers are forbidden from displaying, disseminating, or publishing images on social media while wearing the police uniform. The law underscores the importance of discipline in achieving the State's objectives, such as maintaining public order and security, and preserving democratic achievements while respecting citizens' fundamental rights and freedoms.
The regulation aims to align the force's disciplinary framework with its constitutional missions, reinforcing its dedication to legality, ethics, and State authority.
