Angolan Police Dismiss Social Media Claims of Instability as False and Criminal

Luanda: Angolan National Police spokesperson Mateus Rodrigues has dismissed circulating information on social media suggesting instability in the country as false, slanderous, and criminal. These claims, according to Rodrigues, aim to create unnecessary fear and insecurity among citizens.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Rodrigues presented an overview of the country's public security situation, asserting that there is no cause for alarm or any restrictions impacting the daily lives of citizens. He emphasized the close monitoring of social media content that seeks to spread fear and destabilize social peace.

Rodrigues noted that misinformation tends to spike before major events, often involving manipulated videos or audios related to past incidents. Some of these incidents have already undergone disciplinary or judicial scrutiny. In light of this, he urged the public to seek information only from official sources.

He further assured that Angola's public security remains stable, with no incidents disrupting public or private institutions or hindering the free movement of people and goods. Security measures are in place to ensure all activities, both national and international, proceed without issues.

Rodrigues warned that any attempts to disrupt public order would be met with an appropriate response from the country's defense and security forces. He reaffirmed the National Police's dedication to maintaining public order and safeguarding both people and property.
