Luanda: The Minister of Health, Slvia Lutucuta, inspected the construction of the future Burns Hospital Unit on Sunday, which will feature 249 beds, including 60 in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and advanced technology to assist critically ill patients. The facility, situated in the Kilamba neighborhood of the Belas municipality, is a part of ongoing efforts to monitor and follow up on hospital infrastructure developments in the country.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister highlighted that the hospital is a component of a broader national plan aimed at specializing and expanding the services offered by the National Health System. "The construction of this unit is a decisive step in strengthening our response capacity to highly specialized clinical situations. The country needs definitive and sustainable solutions for burn treatment, and this infrastructure will guarantee this with quality, dignity, and safety," she stated.
Emphasizing the significance of intersectoral cooperation, the minister stressed the necessity of completing the project within the established timelines. "This is not just an investment in cement and equipment; it is a commitment to life. Our focus is to ensure that the population has access to differentiated care, provided by well-trained professionals and in appropriate conditions," she added.
The Burns Hospital, currently in an advanced stage of construction, is set to become a third-level hospital and a national reference for specialized burn treatment. It will focus on treating severe and highly complex burns, offering specialized areas for rehabilitation, long-term care, and reconstructive surgery.
The facility will be staffed by a highly qualified multidisciplinary clinical team, including specialists in plastic surgery, intensive care, physical therapy, specialized nursing, and other complementary fields. The infrastructure will also feature advanced diagnostic support services, a modern operating room, a skin bank, a microbiology lab, and thermal isolation units, ensuring the provision of differentiated, humane care meeting the highest international standards.
