Luanda: The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperan§a da Costa, received the Portuguese Ambassador to Angola, Nuno Vaultier Mathias, in an audience on Tuesday, during which they analyzed the state of bilateral cooperation and prospects for strengthening it in various fields.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Nuno Vaultier Mathias stated that the meeting underscored the importance of continuing to bolster cooperation in the education sector, which is considered a strategic area for the sustainable development of both Angola and Portugal. The discussion also touched on the blue economy, highlighting it as an area of mutual interest, with both countries maintaining growing cooperation.
The Portuguese ambassador emphasized that the audience took place in a cordial atmosphere and allowed both parties to reaffirm their commitment to deepening the historic relations between the two states. It also provided an opportunity to review various sectors of cooperation, particularly in health, education, security, defense, and economy.
Nuno Vaultier Mathias mentioned his recent meeting with the Minister of Education, emphasizing the significance of this sector in the framework of bilateral relations. He also recalled presenting his credentials to the President of the Republic, Joo Louren§o, in February, marking the positive start of his diplomatic mission in Angola.
The ambassador noted, "The two countries have a deep historical relationship, which facilitated my integration and entry into office in Angola." When queried about a possible visit by the new Portuguese President to Angola, he stated that no date has been set, but the matter continues to be monitored by the authorities of both nations.
