Beijing: The Minister of State and Head of the Civil Office of the President of the Republic, Dionsio da Fonseca, met on Tuesday in Beijing with the President of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), Chen Xiaodong, who reaffirmed his country's willingness to continue supporting social projects in Angola.
According to Angola Press News Agency, during the meeting, which was part of the Minister of State's working visit to China, the parties analyzed the state of bilateral cooperation and the prospects for strengthening the partnership in areas of common interest.
Chen Xiaodong highlighted the importance of cultural and civilizational exchange between peoples for the construction of a more inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous world, therefore reiterating China's interest in seeking support for social development initiatives in Angola. The Minister of State on his turn highlighted the need to strengthen the training and capacity building of Angolan public administration personnel, as well as to explore new opportunities for cooperation within the framework of the excellent bilateral relations existing between the two countries.
Angola and China maintain a comprehensive strategic partnership, focusing on the sectors of infrastructure, health, education, energy, transport, and telecommunications, among other fields. Angola's Minister of State and Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic, Dionsio da Fonseca, began a six-day working visit to the People's Republic of China on Monday, where he will visit various government agencies and services.
The visit follows an official invitation from the Chinese government, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries, focusing on administrative modernization measures, digital transformation, and personnel training. The program includes visits to the Beijing Administrative Services Center, the China International Development Cooperation Agency, the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, the Huawei Technology Park, the city of Shanghai, and the Pudong Academy of Professionals of China (CELAP).
Relations between Angola and China date back to 1983 and reached their peak from 2000 onwards, when the Asian giant began lending money to the country for the reconstruction of infrastructure destroyed by the war and to boost the national economy. The partnership between the two countries is based on the export of Angolan crude oil and the import of Chinese manufactured goods, machinery, and infrastructure investments. The two countries have been working to diversify this relationship, expanding it into agriculture, fishing, mining, and technology.
