Angola’s Executive Aims to Transform Mineral Sector into Industrialization Engine

Luanda:The Executive Branch of Angola is committed to transforming the nation's mineral resources into a catalyst for industrialization, as highlighted by Paulo Tanganha, the National Director of Mineral Resources, during a workshop on sustainable mining in Luanda.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Tanganha emphasized the Angolan Executive's determination to move beyond being merely a supplier of unprocessed raw materials. This initiative aligns with the National Development Plan (PDN 2023-2027), the Sectoral Plan of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, and the Angola 2050 Long-Term Strategy.

Tanganha outlined five key priorities guiding the sector's transformation Governance and Transparency, Environmental Protection, Local Content and Value Chains, Social Responsibility, and Human Capital and Operational Safety. These focus areas aim to enhance the efficiency of resource use, promote local industrialization, ensure positive community impact, and uphold high safety standards.

José Manuel Ganga Júnior, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENDIAMA, echoed the importance of adopting responsible practices within the diamond subsector. He stressed that extractive activities should remain economically viable while safeguarding ecosystems and supporting regional sustainable development.

The workshop, held in collaboration with the Institute of Industrial Projects (INPROITEC), facilitated discussions on environmentally responsible practices in the diamond industry. It also featured the presentation of the Biodiversity Survey Report, a tool designed to enhance ecosystem knowledge and support environmental conservation efforts.
