Angola’s National Petroleum Agency Reaffirms Commitment to Energy Transition

Porto amboim: Artur Cust³dio, the Executive Administrator of the National Petroleum and Biofuels Agency, reaffirmed the country's commitment to energy transition during a workshop in Porto Amboim, Cuanza-Sul Province. The event, titled "Biofuels," highlighted Angola's dedication to implementing sustainable projects, focusing on energy integration, economic diversification, and the sustainable development of rural communities.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Cust³dio emphasized Cuanza-Sul province's natural potential for integrated projects that connect the energy, agriculture, and environmental sectors. He pointed out that biofuels present a strategic opportunity to boost agricultural production, create employment, and generate clean energy. Afforestation, he noted, plays a role in conserving soils, rivers, and productive lands.

Honorato Kondjassili, director of the Integrated Economic Development office in Cuanza-Sul, also highlighted the strategic importance of biofuels in the national economy. He stressed the role of biofuels in ensuring environmental sustainability through reforestation, biodiversity in wetlands, and food security. Kondjassili advocated for the rational use of resources, minimizing environmental impact, and the exploration of various energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.

Participants at the workshop engaged in discussions on several topics, including "The Strategic Framework on Biofuels in Angola," "Biofuel Production Activities," and "Opportunities in the Biofuel and Reforestation Value Chain."
