Azule Energy Commits USD 650,000 for Rehabilitation of Dom Bosco Centres in Luanda

Luanda: Six hundred and fifty thousand US dollars are available for the rehabilitation of three Dom Bosco centres, in the municipality of Sambizanga, in Luanda, in an initiative of the oil company Azule Energy. The fact was announced on Monday by the director of government affairs and external relations of Azule Energy, H©lder Silva, at the end of the signing of an agreement with the VIS NGO.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the rehabilitation project will focus on the Casa Magone, Mam Margarida, and Beata Anuarite centres. The initiative aims to improve social protection services and infrastructure, as well as strengthen the reintegration mechanisms for children living on the streets of Luanda, under the "Vamos Juntos" project. The execution of the works is scheduled for a period of 12 months, which includes the maintenance and operation of the centers.

H©lder Silva mentioned that this memorandum is part of Azule Energy's broader social responsibility efforts, which allocate ten million dollars annually. The coordinator of VIS in Angola, S©rgio Guitoko, emphasized the significance of this support. He noted that the rehabilitation would enhance living conditions and services for 350 children living on the streets, including 20 girls, who will receive access to socio-health protection activities.

Guitoko further highlighted that the project would also extend support to 250 vulnerable children and young people, including 30 girls in reception centers, providing them with improved conditions, birth registration, psychological support, hygiene, and nutrition. Assistance will also be extended to 60 families of children identified as living on the streets, focusing on social reintegration and psychological support, with 50 families receiving self-employment kits.

The project encompasses first contact and assistance at 27 identified points on the streets, the implementation of a support program for vulnerable children in four reception centers, family reintegration, and the promotion of self-employment.
