Luanda: The municipality of Camacupa in the Province of Bié marked its debut in this year's Expo-Bié 2025, showcasing small quantities of plantain and palm fruit cultivation aimed at boosting production in future agricultural campaigns. According to Angola Press News Agency, Camacupa Municipal Administrator Deolinda Belvina Gonçalves emphasized the region's favorable climatic and soil conditions for producing these crops. Recent tests within the circumscription have yielded positive results, indicating potential for large-scale production. Gonçalves assured that farmers and small-scale producers would receive support from the municipal administration for cultivating these crops on both small and large scales. The initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Angolan government to diversify the economy and reduce reliance on imports. Gonçalves highlighted Camacupa's participation in Expo-Bié 2025, with 21 exhibitors showcasing approximately 150 tons of various products. Key among these are rice and corn, p roduced on two large-scale farms in the municipality. The region is also known for producing significant quantities of beans, soy, cassava, peanuts, wheat, potatoes, and various vegetables. Camacupa's agricultural products benefit several provinces, including Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Moxico, Huambo, Benguela, Huila, Namibe, Luanda, and Cubango. Gonçalves extended an invitation to entrepreneurs to invest in the region, citing its fertile soils and abundant natural, water, and forest resources. Expo-Bié 2025, which occupies approximately 26,700 square meters, features over 435 exhibitors, including producers, entrepreneurs, and service providers. The event has generated more than 1,038 provisional jobs and offers visitors access to over 3,000 tons of various products, agricultural machinery, and a playground. As the largest business exchange and partnership platform in the province, Expo-Bié 2025 opened last Wednesday under the motto '50 years of independence, producing, transforming and developing Angola.' T he event will recognize participants across 17 categories, with the Grand Prix being a notable highlight.
