Luanda: The chairperson of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), Florizelle Liser, called in Luanda for the need to build lasting partnerships between Africa and the US, based on mutual trust, respect, and commitment to shared economic development.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the CCA representative made the statement at the opening ceremony of the US-Africa Business Summit, which runs until Wednesday in the Angolan capital under the motto 'Pathways to Prosperity'. Florizelle Liser emphasized the forum's significance as it represents more than just an economic opportunity, but a reflection of relationships nurtured over the years between governments, companies, and institutions that believe in the potential for strategic cooperation between Africa and the US.
She highlighted that prosperity extends beyond one-off investments, requiring coordinated and consistent efforts between the public and private sectors, which can boost trade, promote innovation, and create jobs. The CCA leader acknowledged the active role of President Joo Louren§o, who in the previous edition of the summit in Dallas, USA, expressed his desire for Angola to host the event in 2025. 'We are in Luanda today thanks to Angola's vision and commitment to this strategic partnership,' she stated.
Organized by the Corporate Council on Africa, in partnership with the Angolan government, the 17th edition of the Summit is being held under the slogan 'Paths to Prosperity', bringing together more than 2,600 participants, including business leaders, investors, and government officials from the United States and numerous African countries.
Over the course of three days, discussions will focus on the development of trade, investment, and economic partnerships in strategic sectors such as electricity, infrastructure, agribusiness, digital technologies, health, and creative industries, as well as other challenges faced by African countries. The program includes high-level plenary sessions, sector dialogues, private roundtables, networking sessions, and an exhibition of technological solutions. It coincides with the year Angola celebrates the 50th anniversary of its national independence, to be marked on 11 November.
