Dakar: Sergio Campos da Concei§o, the chairman of the Angola-Turkey Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIAT), was awarded the academic title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the African Institute for Applied Multidisciplinary Research (IARPA) in Dakar.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the recognition is in honor of his contributions to strengthening scientific research and multidisciplinary development and promoting international economic relations on the continent.
The honor was presented during a ceremony held November 18-19 in Dakar, Senegal, which brought together academics, diplomats, researchers, businesspeople, and institutional representatives from various African countries.
The IARPA Strategic Steering Committee stated that the recognition granted to S©rgio Campos da Concei§o is a result of his commitment, contributions, and impact in consolidating multidisciplinary initiatives and bilateral agreements that strengthen the economic positioning of African countries, particularly Angola.
Angola's Minister of Fisheries, Carmen dos Santos, and Professor of Law Lino Diamvutu were also honored. The event organizers considered this a source of pride for Angola, as three of its professionals were recognized abroad.
S©rgio Campos da Concei§o began his career in 2006 and has worked in sectors such as commerce, industry, transport, public administration, agriculture, fisheries, and oil. He currently leads the Angola-Turkey Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he promotes international partnerships, cooperation programs, and business-strengthening initiatives.
He is a founding member of the Association of Managers and Administrators of Angola, the PirSmide World Foundation, Petro Link Angola, Isacleco, and Serquiz Angola.
During his speech at the ceremony, the honoree expressed emotion and a sense of mission, acknowledging years of dedication, research, and resilience.
He also mentioned that the distinction takes on special meaning during Angola's 50th anniversary of independence, highlighting Angolans' growing role in scientific production and the country's intellectual development.
This event brought together prominent figures from the African academic and scientific communities and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting science, encouraging research, and strengthening cooperation between institutions on the continent.
