Luanda: A total of 116 new cases of cholera were reported in the last 24 hours across several provinces in Angola, including Cuanza-Sul, Hula, Lunda-Norte, Namibe, Benguela, Luanda, Cabinda, Icolo e Bengo, Malanje, Zaire, and Bengo.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Ministry of Health’s information sheet revealed that one death was also reported in Lunda-Norte. The report detailed that out of the 116 new cases, 33 originated from Cuanza-Sul, 28 from Hula, 19 from Lunda-Norte, and 16 from Namibe. Benguela reported 5 cases, while both Luanda and Cabinda had 4 each. Icolo e Bengo, Malanje, and Zaire each registered 2 new cases.
Since the outbreak began in January of the current year, a cumulative total of 25,665 cases have been reported. Among these, Luanda has reported 6,863 cases, Benguela 4,709, and Bengo 3,051. Cuanza-Sul has seen 2,377 cases, while Cuanza-Norte reported 2,204. Icolo e Bengo accounted for 1,259 cases, Malanje for 1,150, and Hula for 724. The provinces of Cabinda, Zaire, and Lunda-Norte have respectively reported 297, 174, and 159 cases. Additionally, Cubango registered 59 cases, Huambo 41, Uge 16, with Bi©, Cunene, and Lunda-Sul reporting extremely low numbers, including a single case in Lunda-Sul.
