Luanda: The Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA) appealed, this Tuesday in Luanda, to political parties to create permanent mechanisms for dialogue and understanding throughout the country, with a view to the peaceful resolution of problems and the strengthening of peace. According to Angola Press News Agency, the Secretary-General of CICA, Reverend Vladimir Agostinho, emphasized the importance of dialogue in building peace during the conclusion of the extraordinary session of the Executive Committee.
He stressed that peace is not achieved through silence in the face of injustice, but through dialogue and the search for peaceful solutions to societal problems. Agostinho expressed concern for families affected by violence and political intolerance, stating, "We cannot remain indifferent to the situation of those who weep, of the families affected by violence and political intolerance."
In the realm of social issues, CICA urged the adoption of public policies focusing on poverty alleviation, noting that hunger, unemployment, and social exclusion undermine the social fabric. Agostinho acknowledged the government's efforts in implementing socio-economic projects, particularly the opening of new hospital units across several provinces, which aim to provide dignity, work, and opportunities.
He also reviewed national developments, highlighting investments in road infrastructure, education, and water supply sectors. Among CICA's recommendations are the rehabilitation and maintenance of national and secondary roads, especially in deteriorated areas, enhancement of lighting in critical zones and urban roads, intensification of technical vehicle inspections, and ongoing road safety education campaigns.
