Lisbon: The Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), Angolan F¡tima Jardim, received a delegation from the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) to discuss cooperation in public health among CPLP Member States. The meeting took place in Lisbon at the CPLP headquarters.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the discussions focused on strategic areas such as combating high-impact chronic diseases and training and capacity-building for health professionals. The cooperation aims to leverage innovative technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI), integrate the business sector, and create financing mechanisms to strengthen health systems.
The Brazilian delegation also participated in the inaugural meeting of the Steering Committee of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the ABC, CPLP, and Fiocruz. This agreement formalizes a commitment to develop joint and sustainable solutions for health-related challenges in Portuguese-speaking countries.
The understanding includes initiatives aimed at improving human development indicators in public health, training and qualification of professionals, promoting research, and encouraging technological innovation. The Brazilian delegation was led by Ambassador Rui Ferreira of the ABC and included Juliano Feres Nascimento, Brazil's permanent representative to the CPLP, along with members of the Brazilian Diplomatic Mission and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz).
