Luanda: The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) incinerated over 100 kilograms of cocaine in Luanda, seized during operations across the country, as stated by SIC spokesperson Manuel Halaiwa. This significant action is part of a broader effort to combat drug trafficking and illegal drug use within the region.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Halaiwa also announced that SIC plans to incinerate other substances such as crack, skunk, amphetamines, methamphetamines, ketamine, ecstasy, and cannabis sativa, commonly known as marijuana. This operation is scheduled at the industrial waste treatment company Recolix, located in the municipality of Mulembo in Luanda.
The event is timed to coincide with the International Day Against Drug Abuse, observed on June 26. This year's theme, "The evidence is clear: Invest in prevention. Break the cycle. End organized crime," underscores the global commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking.
Officials from the Public Prosecutor's Office attached to SIC will be present to ensure the process adheres to legal standards. The event will also be attended by directors from the Fight Against Drug Trafficking and the National Criminal Investigation departments at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport and the Port of Luanda, along with SIC/Luanda and the National Institute for the Fight Against Drugs (INALUD), among other officials.
