Luanda: Two hundred and twenty-six excursionists of various nationalities arrived in Luanda on Monday morning, aboard the cruise ship ‘Crystal Symphony’, as part of the promotion of maritime tourism in the country.

According to Angola Press News Agency, before reaching Luanda, the ship docked at the Port of Namibe. The visit to Angola is part of an excursion that began 10 days ago in Cape Town, South Africa, and is bound for Lisbon, Portugal’s capital. The tourists comprise mainly North Americans, with Australians, Canadians, British, Germans, and South Africans also aboard.

Jos© Cabral, the general director of the TravelGest agency, noted that the tourists will remain in Luanda until the end of Monday. During their stay, they plan to visit historical sites including the Iron Palace, the museums of Anthropology, Military History, and Slavery, as well as the Benfica Market and the Moon Viewpoint.

The ship is scheduled to continue its journey, making stops in So Tom© and Prncipe, Dakar in Senegal, and Cape Verde. The frequent arrival of cruise ships in Angola has been pivotal in promoting the country’s image, attracting more tourists, and contributing to economic growth through increased service demand and revenue generation.

In an interview with ANGOP, American tourist Tina Bailey expressed her amazement at the tourist attractions in the province of Namibe and the customs of the local population. Visiting Angola for the first time, she is eager to learn about the history of Luanda and has expressed her desire to return more frequently.

This marks the sixth cruise ship to dock at the Port of Luanda since the beginning of the year, with three more scheduled visits planned until next July.
