Elections2022: Angolans called to demonstrate maturity

Soyo – Angolan citizens must demonstrate their electoral maturity to Africa and the world, the King of Soyo (northern Zaire province), João Tona, appelled ahead of the Wednesday ‘s voting.

Speaking to the press, the king of Soyo recalled that Angola has already shown their electoral maturity to the world in previous elections, adding that he hopes that this year’s election will cement that maturity.

“Angolans have already proved that they are prepared to live in harmony, agreement and respect for political differences,” the traditional authority said.

To the king, the elections should be seen as a celebration of democracy, where every citizen of voting age should responsibly choose the future rulers of the country.

The sovereign asked voters not to remain in the polling stations after exercising their right, advising them to return home, where they should wait for the final results.

Zaire has 321,781 voters registered to cast ballots in 259 polling stations scattered all over the province.
