Luanda: Hydrocarbon exploration company Etu Energias announced plans for a new lubricants plant in the Special Economic Zone in Icolo e Bengo, Luanda. The facility is set to produce 24,000 metric tons of lubricants annually, aiming to meet domestic demand and reduce import dependency.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Etu Energias' CEO Edson dos Santos highlighted the project at the Angola International Fair (FILDA 2025), underscoring its role in diversifying the company's operations traditionally centered on crude oil exploration. The plant, expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2026, will produce the national brand Etu and is projected to create numerous jobs.
The CEO noted that the initiative is part of Etu Energias' broader expansion strategy, which includes increasing its gas station network from four to 40 locations over four years. Over the past three years, the company has tripled its crude oil output, reinforcing its standing in Angola's energy sector.
Dos Santos also discussed the company's commitment to community development, with investments in social infrastructure like schools and clinics, particularly in Zaire. He stressed the importance of aligning company growth with regional sustainable development.
During FILDA 2025, dos Santos emphasized Etu Energias' dedication to strengthening national industry and contributing to Angola's economic independence. The fair spans four pavilions, covering a total area of 160,000 square meters, featuring 2,194 participants from various sectors and 18 countries, surpassing the previous year's exhibitor count.
