Luanda: A total of 15 people died and 53 others were injured across the country over the weekend, following 147 incidents registered, the Civil Protection and Firefighters (SPCB) said on Monday. According to Angola Press News Agency, the corporation's incident report sent to ANGOP on Monday indicated an increase of one death and a decrease of 25 injuries and 18 incidents compared to the previous weekend. Of the deaths, seven were presumed drownings, three were due to traffic accidents, two were due to unknown causes, and one each was due to a landslide, physical assault, and the abandonment of a newborn. Regarding injuries, the document states that 37 resulted from traffic accidents, 10 from physical assault, three from tripping, two from falling, and one from an animal bite. The SPCB also carried out 157 rescue services in total, including 104 pre-hospital care situations. It also emphasizes that, during the aforementioned period, the corporation had a total of 2,555 firefighters and 119 technical r esources, including firefighting equipment, rescue vehicles, watercraft, ambulances, and boats.
