First Lady of Angola Stresses the Importance of Education in Building an Equitable Society

Huambo: The First Lady of Angola, Ana Dias Louren§o, emphasized the critical role of education in fostering a fairer, more equitable, and prosperous society during the inauguration of the Eiffel High School in the Cambiote neighborhood on the outskirts of Huambo.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Ana Louren§o highlighted that empowerment, innovation, and progress are intrinsically linked to the prioritization of education. She reiterated her personal and institutional dedication to ensuring quality education for all, underscoring the importance of this commitment.

The First Lady noted that the Eiffel school network has set a national standard for educational excellence. This achievement is the result of a public-private partnership involving the Ministry of Education, TotalEnergies, the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), the French Embassy in Angola, and the French Secular Mission. Ana Louren§o further explained that the Eiffel network, operational in the provinces of Bengo, Cuanza Norte, Cunene, Malanje, Moxico, and Huambo, stands as a beacon of hope, social transformation, and gender equality, with nearly 50 percent of its places reserved for girls who often encounter structural and social obstacles.

Addressing the students, the First Lady urged them to care for the school's infrastructure and utilize it as a space for knowledge, hope, and citizenship. She encouraged students to seize every opportunity to expand their knowledge and become catalysts for community transformation.

Ana Louren§o commended the collaborative efforts between the government, TotalEnergies, ANPG, and other Block 32 partners, which have facilitated the expansion of the school network. She advocated for the establishment of at least one Eiffel high school and one Campus Industries in each of Angola's 21 provinces.

The inauguration of the Eiffel High School in Huambo, she stated, signifies a renewed commitment to youth, quality education, and sustainable community development, beyond merely marking the opening of a new educational facility. The newly inaugurated school is equipped to accommodate 150 students across six classrooms and features three laboratories, a computer room, a media library, a regular library, a sports court, and a soccer field.
