Angola: Former Vice-President Bornito de Sousa has embarked on a four-day private visit to Egypt, with the primary goal of gaining deeper insights into some of the country's key historical and scientific landmarks.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Bornito de Sousa's itinerary includes visits to significant Egyptian sites such as the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Pyramids of Giza, the New Administrative Capital, and the Library of Alexandria. These locations offer a window into Egypt's rich cultural and historical legacy. The Grand Egyptian Museum, noted for being the largest museum globally dedicated to a single civilization, showcases artefacts that span thousands of years of Ancient Egyptian history.
The Pyramids of Giza stand as some of Egypt's most iconic monuments, exemplifying the engineering prowess of the ancient world and the enduring legacy of the pharaohs. Meanwhile, the New Administrative Capital represents Egypt's vision for a smart mega-city that will serve as the country's primary political and administrative hub. The Library of Alexandria, on the other hand, is celebrated for its historical and cultural significance as a center of knowledge and research in antiquity.
Upon his arrival at Cairo International Airport, Bornito de Sousa was warmly received by Angola's Ambassador to Egypt, Maquento Sebastio Lopes. Bornito de Sousa, who stepped down as Vice-President in September 2022, has since founded the Bornito de Sousa Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to promoting social solidarity and philanthropic activities, aiming to contribute to Angola's sustainable development through partnerships with public and private entities, both locally and internationally.
