Huambo: German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited the Animal Vaccine Production Center project in Angola's central Huambo province, where he assessed its construction progress. Accompanied by Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, T©te Ant³nio, and Huambo's governor, Pereira Alfredo, the German Head of State was briefed on the project's scope, completed phases, and ongoing investments. The project, valued at 125,221,858 euros and financed by German banks, is set to be completed by 2026.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the center will have a significant production capacity upon completion, with the ability to produce 30.6 million vaccines for mammals, 150.6 million vaccines for birds, and 9.384 million antigens for diagnostic reagents annually. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Isaac dos Anjos, along with other Angolan government officials, were also present during the visit.
During his brief working visit to Huambo, President Steinmeier also visited 'The HALO Trust', a non-governmental organization involved in demining work. He observed the demining equipment and witnessed a simulation demonstrating the demining process, which included mapping, marking, isolation, excavation, evaluation, and destruction.
The President's itinerary in Huambo further included a tour of the 'Princess Diana' Center for Medicine and Physical Rehabilitation in the morning.
