Luanda – Angola’s Cabinet Council Wednesday analysed the state of implementation of several projects underway in the country’s capital, Luanda.
The session, chaired by the President João Lourenço, specifically discussed the issues related to basic sanitation, education, health, transport, as well as public lighting and security.
The meeting enabled the incumbent of Executive Branch to hear from the provincial governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, the main concerns besetting Luanda residents.
Manuel Homem told the journalists that the meeting focused on the medium-term implementation and resumption of the main projects.
Among the pressing issues, Manuel Homem mentioned the construction of more public schools, improvement of secondary and tertiary roads.
He referred to Benfica/Barra do Kwanza road section, the road to the new International Airport Dr. António Agostinho Neto and the Zango road.
As for the many projects that had been suspended, “for various reasons,” the governor stressing that financial and administrative conditions are being created to resume the projects.
Manuel Homem, who also announced plans for the construction of more public schools, said that according to the indicators, Luanda province needed at least 1,000 schools.
With a population of over 8 million inhabitants, the province of Luanda comprises the municipalities of Luanda, Cazenga, Viana, Cacuaco, Belas, Icolo and Bengo, Quissama, Talatona and Kilamba Kiaxi.
