JUCICA Elects New Leadership at Ecumenical Village Event

Luanda: The Youth of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (JUCICA) elected and inaugurated Manuel Felisberto Chivinda as the new general director for a five-year term during the closing of the 8th edition of the Ecumenical Village. The ceremony, held today, marked a significant transition in leadership for the association.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the event was led by CICA's general secretary, Vladmir Agostinho, who also appointed Ester Tom©sia as the Luanda provincial director of JUCICA. In his opening address, Manuel Felisberto highlighted his priorities for the term, focusing on mediation between young people and organizations, financing projects, and technical and professional training. He emphasized the creation of open dialogue spaces for young people to address issues such as unemployment and homelessness.

Reverend Vladmir Agostinho shared insights from the four-day camp at the Funda commune in Icolo e Bengo province. The youth participants explored topics like citizenship, patriotism, reproductive health, gender equality, and civic and moral education. In the context of Angola's 50th anniversary of national independence, emphasis was placed on planning for the future while reflecting on the past.

Reverend Deolinda Dorcas Teka encouraged the youth to uphold moral values and appreciate life and public goods. She stressed the importance of being promoters of peace and positivity. The event, which gathered around two thousand young people from 21 provinces, concluded with a decision to hold the camp biennially under the motto "JUCICA, a legacy of values cultivating roots and building bridges to the future."
