Kairouan: Launch of “Right Up” project to raise awareness of sexual and reproductive health among youth

KAIROUAN: The “Right Up” project was launched on Tuesday in the Kairouan governorate by the Tunisian association SAWA-MED, with the aim of raising young people’s awareness of sexual and reproductive health.

The project is part of two programmes implemented by the international organisation Oxfam, namely ‘Rose’ and ‘Masarna’, Siwar Mohammad Saleh, director of the ‘Right Up’ project, told TAP.

It is mainly aimed at young people, particularly students from the Kairouan governorate who study at universities in the region, she added.

She further said that the project aims to simplify information for students and provide them with the right concepts regarding sexual and reproductive health and the rights guaranteed to them by the state in this regard.

Two awareness-raising days will be organised for students in university facilities and dormitories in Kairouan in order to reach as many students as possible and raise their awareness of the issue, the source said.

To this end, a series of awareness-raising podca
sts for young people on the subject will be produced in collaboration with a local web radio station based in the region.

Nesrine Dali, an expert on the Right Up project, said it is aimed at young people between the ages of 18 and 35 and will mainly involve training around 20 students and organising an awareness-raising campaign involving a range of activities.
