Benguela: Family farmers in the municipality of Lubalo, Lunda-Norte province, are concerned about the flow of agricultural products due to the lack of access roads, which is affecting their activity. According to Angola Press News Agency, Lubalo's municipal administrator, Lúcio Rituai, emphasized that there are currently no access roads connecting the Lubalo municipal headquarters to its only commune. This situation hinders the flow of agricultural products, such as avocados, oranges, tangerines, yams, and sweet potatoes, making it difficult for farmers to sell them to other parts of the province. The administrator also highlighted the lack of social infrastructure to accommodate public employees from different sectors, such as education and health, as another significant challenge facing the municipality. "We face several challenges and need to find solutions to meet the needs of the population," he emphasized. To address these issues, the Lubalo Municipal Administration has submitted its project portfol io to the Provincial Government of Lunda-Norte in preparation for the 2026 General State Budget. Lúcio Rituai expressed hope for the implementation of Lubalo's projects, focusing on rehabilitating access roads and building social infrastructure. Regarding the $40 million increase in funding for the Integrated Local Development and Poverty Alleviation Program (PIDLCP), the municipal administrator considers it a significant advantage for local development. He expects this budget increase to be implemented soon to improve the living conditions of citizens living in extreme poverty and social vulnerability. Highlighting the significance of the Angolan Municipalities and Cities Fair, Lúcio Rituai noted the importance of showcasing Lubalo's cultural heritage, such as the traditional Tchianda dance by the Tchokwe people. The fair also generated interest in locally grown products like avocados and citrus fruits, attracting families and visitors curious about the municipality's offerings. Lúcio Rituai concluded by s tressing the potential for transforming Lubalo's challenges into opportunities for generating jobs, income, and well-being for the community. The 5th Fair of Municipalities and Cities of Angola, held under the motto "Life is Made in the Municipalities," was officially opened by the President of the Republic, Joo Lourenço, with participation from 326 municipalities representing the 21 provinces. The event, organized by the Ministry of Territorial Administration in partnership with Eventos Arena, serves as a strategic platform for encouraging local development, establishing partnerships, and boosting the growth of Angolan municipalities.
