Luanda: The capital of Angola will host the 2nd Summit of the Forum of Superior Councils of Justice of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) set to kick off Wednesday, which will take place under the motto 'The Separation of Powers and the Administrative and Financial Autonomy of the Judiciary'. The summit is taking place under the Angolan Presidency of the Forum of Superior Councils of Justice of the CPLP and will feature delegations from Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, So Tom© and Prncipe, and East Timor, as well as national entities and guests.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Summit's highlight will be the approval of the "Luanda Charter," the final document that will guide the forum's activities over the next two years.

About the Summit

The Forum is a platform for international cooperation between the judicial management bodies of the CPLP countries and territories. The term "Superior Council of Justice" refers to the highest judicial management bodies in each country, regardless of their national designation. The Forum's governing bodies are the Forum Presidency, the Summit of Superior Councils of Justice of the CPLP, and the Standing Committee of the Councils.

Angola was elected in November 2023 to the presidency of the Forum of Superior Councils of Justice of the CPLP for the 2024-2025 biennium. The election took place during the 1st Summit of the Forum of Superior Councils of Justice of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), held in Cabo Verde.

During the discussion on the digital transformation of the judiciaries in Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, So Tom© and Prncipe, and East Timor, it was decided to hold the 2nd Summit of the Forum of Superior Councils of the CPLP in Angola, under the surveillance of the country's Superior Council of the Judiciary, as President of the Forum for the 2024/2025 Biennium, with Brazil as Vice-President. The Forum's presidency rotates for two years.
