Luau: Construction work on the Luau photovoltaic solar park, located in the municipality of Luau in Moxico-Leste province, is expected to be completed by April. The solar park, with an installed capacity of 32.20 megawatts (MWp), aims to provide electricity to more than 100,000 residents in the eastern region of the country. According to Angola Press News Agency, the project is in its final phase of equipment assembly and features 55,000 solar panels along with a battery storage system capable of storing 79.77 megawatt-hours (MWh). The Ministry of Energy and Water has confirmed that the process of connecting 20,000 households is underway, ensuring that a significant portion of the population will gain access to electricity. The note from the Ministry also highlights the project's contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with Angola's commitment to global climate change mitigation targets. This development is not only expected to have direct economic benefits but also to bolster the countr y's environmental sustainability efforts.
