Luanda: The minister of Industry and Commerce, Rui Miguªns, advocated, on Wednesday (19) in Luanda, for the creation of an organized trade structure in Angola, with a view to efficiently and safely transporting goods on national roads.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the government official, who was speaking at the 23rd Edition of Caf©Cipra (an open and direct dialogue between the Angolan Executive, journalists and civil society), believes that this mechanism will facilitate the preservation of transported products until they reach the consumer at lower costs. Rui Miguªns stated that he is concerned with the road transport unit that travels hundreds and thousands of kilometres with very reduced loads of goods.
"We understand that there is an effort by private operators, but we have to organize our trade and logistics chain, in order to find business aggregator and distribution agents to circulate goods around the country in larger volumes," he explained. In his view, the market agents will circulate goods with fuel savings, transport capacity, and a reduction of losses in this process.
For this reason, the government official explained to private operators that three-and-a-half-tonne vans are made for urban and pre-urban circulation for the distribution of goods. He also said that Angola can generate employment and investment opportunities through the process of road construction and maintenance.
On the other hand, the minister underlined the non-existence of people delivering spare parts in the quantity and quality necessary to guarantee safety on national roads. "If Angola continues to import scrap metal from the rest of the world, no one will be interested in setting up a factory in the country to generate jobs and create value chains in the automotive industry," he added.
The 23rd Edition of Caf©Cipra, which took place under the theme "Road construction as a lever for national production," brought together the Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry, Isaac dos Anjos, of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, and of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos dos Santos. The Caf©Cipra is created and organized by the Press Centre of the Presidency of the Republic of Angola (CIPRA).
