Luanda: Minister M¡rio Oliveira has initiated the 'Tudo Nossa Fibra' project in the Teresa Afonso Gomes satellite city. The initiative aims to deliver fiber optic internet and voice services directly to citizens' homes, marking a significant step in the National Broadband Network program implemented by Angola Telecom with support from Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. The satellite city currently has 500 inhabited apartments out of a planned 976 and 72 shops.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Minister M¡rio Oliveira emphasized that the project is central to the digital transformation of society, intending to create a robust economy that benefits citizens and fosters national development. The initial phase of the project will extend to urban centers in the provinces of Cabinda, Namibe, and Hula. By the end of the year, services are expected to expand into five additional provinces, aligning with the objectives set in the National Development Plan targeting the country's digital transformation. Minister Oliveira highlighted that fiber optics offer superior quality and affordability compared to satellite services.
Provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Ant³nia Nelumba, remarked that this service is pivotal for societal development, especially as Angola celebrates 50 years of independence. She noted that the Teresa Afonso satellite city was chosen for its existing infrastructure, which facilitates the installation of services that will extend throughout the province, including the Capari satellite city.
